  • Plaza de los Naranjos

    Address:
Plaza de los Naranjos, Marbella, Spain .

The Plaza de los Naranjos, located in the Old Town, right next to Mare Apartments, is the real heart of the city. It was built after the Christian reconquest in 1485. For its construction it was necessary to destroy some old buildings of Muslim origin. Its intention was to give some air to this part of the city, and thus create the centre of the administrative, economic and social power of the municipality.

In the buildings surrounding the Plaza de los Naranjos you can read a good part of the history of the city, as it has some of the most emblematic and important buildings such as the Town Hall built at the end of the 16th century, the Casa del Corregidor or the Ermita de Santiago which is the oldest religious temple in the city.
